Why Should You Call Emily Gardner as Your Animal Law Attorney?
Quite simply, I have always loved helping animals, as well as people. I have been a pet owner of one variety or another all my life. I hold a Master’s of Science degree in zoology and worked in a veterinary clinic for two years while in graduate school. I have a good understanding and appreciation of animals on the inside and the outside, as exemplified by their behaviors and interactions with one another and with people.
Prior to entering private practice, I served as the Marine Protected Species Coordinator for the State of Hawaii, where I helped to improve and enforce the laws affecting Hawaii’s marine wildlife. I have litigation experience in the areas of contract, tort, admiralty and personal injury law as well as in family and estate law. While satisfying, I have always been looking for a way to blend my interests of zoology and the law.
In 2004 I began to devote a significant portion of my practice to animal law. I find that my scientific training is extremely useful in addressing issues involving animal behaviors, physical health, distribution, and habitat needs, especially when identifying and working with appropriate experts. I am an active member of the American Bar Association Animal Law Committee, the American Veterinary Medical Law Association, and the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Lawyers Division. I welcome the opportunity to serve you and invite you to contact me with questions or comments pertaining to animal law.
